For this week's online blog assignment, please respond to the following prompt:
With your knowledge of solving equations, analyze Derek's work with this equation. Is his answer reasonable? Where did he go wrong (Step 1 or Step 2)? What can Derek do to ensure he gets the correct solution?
In your response, answer each of the questions in bold above. Be sure you answer ALL of the questions COMPLETELY. Your response could be in the form of sentences or bullet points.

Have fun blogging! I can't wait to read your responses!

I am Emelyne Ngirutoi from 7D and I have read Mr. Tudela's post.
ReplyDeleteThe mistake that Derek made in the equation was multiplying 8 by 8. He made a mistake because 8 multiplied by 8 is 64. So he's error is multiplying 8 by 8 wrong when it should have been 8 multiplied by 9 which is 72.
I agree with your response.
DeleteHis mistake is in step 2. He did not divide it correctly. Be cause if your multiply 8 by 8 it equals to 64. If you divide 72 by 8 it equals to 9. If you multiply 8 and 9 you'll get 72.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Tayna
DeleteHe made a mistake in step 2. He incorrectly divided 72 and 8, which should equal to 64.
ReplyDeleteHis mistake is that 72 divided by 8 is not 8, it is 9
ReplyDelete-Devon Cabrera
His mistake is in Step 2. He divided 8 into 72 incorrectly, his answer was 8 which should be 9. To make sure he got the correct answer he should check his work by doing the opposite.
ReplyDeleteI agree that you should check your work by doing the opposite.
DeleteThe mistake Derek has done was in step 2. In step 2 the variable d had equaled to 8 instead of 9. 72 divided by 8 is 9 instead of 8 so Derek had miscalculated the problem, if he had multiplied 8 with 9 he would get 72, but he had multiplied 8 with 8, so that was his mistake.
ReplyDeleteDerek's mistake is that he forgot to divide 72 and 8. He will get the number nine if he did divide, but he didnt. Just like what tayna said, if you divide 72 and 8 you will get the number 9. and when you multiply 8 and 9 you will get 72.
ReplyDeleteHe made a mistake in step 2. He divided wrong 72 and 8 then he will get it. I agree with your post Franchezca.
ReplyDeleteDerek made a mistake on Step 2. Why? He didn't divide it correctly. Instead of his answer being 9 his answer was 8. If you multiply 8 times 8 you will get 64 and the equation says 72. What Derek can do is check it. He can multiply it and see if he gets the correct solution.
ReplyDeleteDerek's mistake is that he didn't divide correctly.8 multiplied by 8 is 64. 8 multiplied by 9 is 72. 72 divided by 8 is 9 so d = 9. Derek should go back and double check his answer.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your statement.
Deletehe made a mistake on step 2. 8 divided by 72 is NOT 8 its "9".
ReplyDeleteDerek made the mistake during step 2. He divided the problem wrong. His answer was 8 when it should be 9.He should've checked his work with the inverse operation.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your response.
DeleteHe made a mistake on the final answer. He did not divide it correctly.
ReplyDeletemy answer was d=1. I divid 8d&8.
I agree with tayna own.
ReplyDeletedereks made a mistake during his two step equation the problem was wrong
ReplyDeletei agree with taynas own
ReplyDeleteHis answer wasn't reasonable because he got step 2 wrong but he did step 1 correct he got step 2 wrong because 72 divided by 8 is not 8 its supposed to be 9 not 8 so thats the part Derek got wrong. If Derek wants to see if his correct he should double check or substitute the value of your variable into your original equations.
ReplyDeleteFloyd I don't agree with you because step 2 is just like the answer the one Derek did wrong was in step 1
DeleteDerek mistake was in step 1 because he divided 72 and 8 wrong 72 divided by 8 is 9 instead of 8. Derek mistake was easy to find but my reason why is not step two is because step two is just like a answer so if he got the answer wrong off course one step he made wrong and what I think he made a mistake is step 1 72 divided by 8 is not 8, it's 9 if he could doubled check using the inverse operation he might not get that wrong.
ReplyDeleteJia li I don't agree with you because step one is correct he just divided and got 8 wich made step two wrong.
DeleteDerek was wrong because he wasn't reasonable. He divided 72 by 8 and got 8 when it is supposed to be 9. That was Derek's mistake. He should have checked if he was correct first using the inverse operation.
ReplyDeleteDerek's mistake was that when he divided 72 by 8, he got 8, but its supposed to be 9 because 72 divided by 8 is 9.
